The Campus Journalism is one of the main issues to many student-writers in our University. There are others who are not aware but others (like me) have a deep concerned with this issue. It is really difficult to identify if Campus Journalism is existing in this University.
In our University Publication (The Pioneer), everything published are all good things about the school. I can’t read any bad news. But how can the students be aware of the anomalies in the University if there are articles which are not published? Students have the right to know the dark side of the University. (Oops…I’m just curious why there are no published articles about anomalies. I hope one time in history of the University there is an article published which is against the University. Don’t take this personally.)
I can say that the student-writers in this University don’t practice their freedom of speech because they are controlled to write anything against their College. What if there are issues that a student should know? Will the Faculty-Adviser let these articles published or not? Isn’t, writing news is to create awareness to the mind of the students so it is the right of the student-writers to let their articles published thou it is against the College. One of the guest said a student-writer should practice their academic freedom but how can they practice it if they are controlled by their Faculty-Adviser? If a student-writer has to say or write against their College and it is proven true and they can defend it, it is just right to publish the article.
If you’re a student-writer let me ask you this, “What’s the use of having the talent in writing if you can’t practice freedom of speech?”

Formerly I would agree but after the Wednesday production of ours about campus freedom then I must say no. We have freedom but it is just that there is no absolute freedom. We must play on this deal while being guided by rules and our responsibility.
If the campus would constrain us on what we ought to say or write. Then it is un-exercised of our campus freedom, no one should constrain us from this thing because we are Mass Communication students and campus journalism is like our playground before going in the bigger world.
Yes I would agree that students are afraid of writing bad things about the college or the university but let us look at the positive side that there are other ways of creating awareness to students. Let me clear it, if we, the students of Angeles University Foundation write many things about anomalies inside our campus and publish them in the college or campus paper then there is a possibility that people or students outside will say that AUF is not a good school, then we go everywhere, wearing our school uniform do you think they will not criticize us? you? Even if you are the one who wrote that article that they've read you will also be offended because you are a student of this School you are pertaining of... having the freedom doesn't give you the license to do whatever you want it should be practice with responsibility....
